We’ve got an exciting story and local heroes helping build and strengthen the Baltimore community. Tune in to see what’s made Baltimore Brighter this week!
Baltimore’s Kids Get a $50 Million Boost for World-Class Care

Baltimore’s own University of Maryland Children’s Hospital just received a game-changing $50 million gift from Tom Golisano, a generous philanthropist and founder of Paychex. This is the biggest donation in the hospital’s history, and it’s set to create real impact for families all across our city and state. Thanks to Golisano, our hospital is being renamed the University of Maryland Golisano Children’s Hospital and joining a national alliance of top children’s hospitals, meaning Baltimore’s kids will have access to some of the best care in the country.
This donation will help build new facilities, bring in expert pediatric specialists, and launch cutting-edge gene therapy programs right here at home. The hospital is already a leader: it has Maryland’s largest neonatal intensive care unit and has pulled off medical firsts, like double heart-lung transplants for kids. With over 3,000 admissions and 118,000 outpatient visits every year, their reach is huge. This gift is about more than bricks and mortar it’s about giving Baltimore’s children and families hope, healing, and a healthier future. In tough times, it’s amazing to see Baltimore at the forefront of innovation and caring for our kids. This is our city, our hospital, and now, our legacy.
